Tracing back to ancient Egypt, oatmeal has been used to beautify the skin. Oatmeal removes excessive oils and exfoliates dead skin. By doing so, it helps with dry skin and relieves irritated skin while also evening skin tone. The potassium in bananas help to decrease inflammation while vitamin A aids by moisturizing the skin. Bananas also smooths skin and vitamin C keeps the skin glowing. The enzymes in honey clean the skin, clarifying pores and preventing bacteria build up. Honey also calms redness, soothes irritation, and provides moisture to the deeper layers of the skin. Avocado’s help dehydrated skin by nourishing and rejuvenating it. The fats in avocados also acts a moisturizer and helps to keep skin smooth and energized. Chocolate opens the skin’s pores, creating a glowing complexion. The antioxidants keep the skin soft and supple, as well as alleviating stress related breakouts.

 

The Exfoliator: Oatmeal Mask

½ banana

3 tbs plain greek yogurt

3 tbs oatmeal

1 tbs honey

1 egg white

Smush banana. Mix yogurt and oatmeal. Add all ingredients, mix. Apply to face and leave on for at least 10-15 minutes.

 

The Hydrater: Avocado Mask

¼ avocado

1 slice of lemon

1 tsp olive oil

1 tbs honey

Smush the avocado. Squeeze in lemon juice. Mix all ingredients. Apply to face and leave on for at least 10-15 minutes.

 

The Brightener: Chocolate Mask

2 tbs cocoa powder

2 tsp plain greek yogurt

1 tsp coconut oil (can be replaced with olive oil)

2 tsp honey

pinch of salt

Mix cocoa powder and yogurt. Add in oil, honey, and salt- mix. Apply to face and leave on for at least 10-15 minutes.
