Roaming Roanoke: Little Green Hive

For this edition of Roaming Roanoke, we visited a popular coffee and smoothie bar – Little Green HIve!

It is hard to believe that summer is winding down! Some are already back in school and others will go back soon! I feel like my kids just got out of school and we still have months left for summer, but that is not the case! My kids want to cram as much of their favorite things into August as possible! We recently visited one of their favorite spots, the Addy Grace Playground. Once we finished playing, we were tired, hungry, and thirsty. I did not have to go far to find rest and food! We went to the new location for Little Green Hive in Daleville Town Center. It was just what we needed!

Little Green Hive is an independently owned coffee and smoothie bar with three locations. Daleville Town Center is the newest one. The others are in downtown Roanoke and Grandin Village. The Little Green Hive website states, “We specialize in serving locally roasted, fair trade and organic coffee. In addition, we serve exotic teas, handcrafted whole fruit smoothies, raw juices, and make many of our breakfast and lunch offerings in house. At Little Green Hive, we know that coffee is personal. We are a small business that believes in buying local because it strengthens the bonds of our community. We only serve real, quality ingredients because we want to support the life and vitality of our neighborhood.” (info from http://littlegreenhive.com/about/)

We enjoy supporting local businesses in the communities so we were so happy to visit Little Green Hive after the playground! I’ll admit, it was so hot that day, so I did not get any of the well-known coffee. I opted for a cold drink. The restaurant has many cold drink options from iced coffees to teas to even milkshakes! I got a loose leaf tea and it was great! My kids got cold drinks as well. We also needed a snack. I got a quiche and it was excellent! My kids had a sweet tooth and got peanut butter chocolate chip cookies. These are also gluten free! Little Green Hive in Daleville Town Center has a large menu with grab and go items like muffins, scones, etc and lunch food such as salads and sandwiches. You can see the entire menu online at http://littlegreenhive.com. They also have online ordering if you know what you want before you get there! We are looking forward to going back and tasting some other food items and of course, the coffee and smoothies!

Little Green Hive in Daleville Town Center had plenty of seating both inside and outside. We opted for inside since we had just gotten hot at the playground. The atmosphere was very relaxing and let everyone cool down, calm down, and enjoy a drink and snack! It was the perfect place to stop after the Addy Grace Playground! It is just a short drive through the parking lot area. Little Green Hive is also a great place to visit by itself for breakfast, lunch, or for a drink or smoothie to go!

Little Green Hive owners and workers are also active in the community. A check of the website shows it supports various organizations and other businesses in the Roanoke area. Your business at Little Green Hive can help many others at the same time!

We enjoyed our visit to Little Green Hive and hope you will too!
