Roaming Roanoke: Mommy Time
For this edition of Roaming Roanoke, we visited a popular place – Mommytime Indoor Playground at Tanglewood Mall!
We love going to playgrounds! We visit a lot of playgrounds in the summer but sometimes it is either too hot or rainy to spend quality time at a playground. This is where Mommytime Indoor Playground comes in handy! It is indoors with air conditioning and a roof so the weather doesn’t matter!
Recently, all of the kids and moms from my daughter’s preschool class last year decided to plan a park play date. The kids want to see each other and play like they did at school. We had an outdoor playground chosen, but rain derailed the plans. Instead of postponing, we just moved it to Mommytime. Believe it or not, this was my first time there. I should have used this indoor playground for years! The kids loved it and parents did too!
Mommytime Indoor Playground is inside Tanglewood Mall on the second floor. It has lots of play structures, slides, balls to play in, creative play, and other items! There is also plenty of seating for adults to sit and watch children. The play area has a “soft floor” so no shoes allowed. Both kids and adults must wear socks. I did not realize adults had to wear socks too, so luckily Mommytime had some for sale there.
My kids and all of the other kids in our group had so much fun. None wanted to leave at closing time! My two-year-old had to be coaxed out of the ball area. Some of the other parents in our group have brought their kids there for years. I feel like I have missed out by not going until now. Our kids definitely want a return trip!
Mommytime is open when the Tanglewood Mall is open. Website says the hours are Monday to Saturday 10:00-6:00 and Sundays 12:00-6:00. Holiday hours vary. It costs $10.
The mall location means there is plenty of parking and plenty of nearby shopping and eating if you want more than the playground.
