Back to the Movies: Hocus Pocus

Max who is new to Salem, lights a candle on Halloween night and summons the infamous trio of witches known as the Sanderson Sisters. These witches aim to suck the life of ever child in Salem so that they can live forever, they have been waiting for 300 years to do so! Someone must stop them!

This movie has gained a cult like following over the years and has become a staple Halloween viewing for many families!

After watching – here are a few things to discuss with your kids!

  • Family is important. We see the importance of family as Max and his sister, Dani, become closer throughout the movie as they team up to stop the Sandersons. Discuss the special bonds that your child has and why they are important.
  • Change is going to happen. In the movie, all of the witches are on a mission to stay young forever and Max wants to go back to California. They want these things because they don’t want change. But Change Happens, and we all have to learn to live with it and move on to the next day, Discuss how change impacts your child and what they need to do to be ok with it.
  • Be yourself.  The Sanderson sisters do not care what others think. They are quite quirky! In the real world the characters have become part of pop culture, mainly for their quirkiness. Being a little weird isn’t a terrible thing, but don’t eat children!
